This past week we took the Beans in for their 5 month pediatrician appointment. Well, it was really just an appointment for them to get Synagis (anti-RSV) shots, but we always see the doctor anyway. Isaac weighs 12lbs 7oz, and Gabe is 13lbs 14oz!!! They really have caught up weight-wise. The doctor is very pleased with their weight gain, especially given that they mostly get straight breastmilk, not formula. That mommy milky really chunks 'em up! Developmentally, Gabe has completely bypassed his prematurity in some ways, he is hitting the milestones that a 4 to 5 month old should be (but of course he is, right, I mean, he is my child)! He has almost complete head control, and he can roll from back to tummy and tummy to back. Isaac is doing just fine for a 3 month old, which is really what they are. He can roll from his back to his side, and he is starting to rock back and forth while on his tummy. He holds his head up at a 90 degree angle when on his tummy, he is so strong. Gabe babbles constantly, and Isaac is all smiles and giggles, especially when they look at each other. They took their shots like champs, screaming momentarily but then moving on. Poor Beans. Luckily, this is the last Synagis forever! No more monthly shots. Well, of course I believe they get a bunch of booster shots at the next checkup in a month. Oh well, better to get shots than get polio or diphtheria.
Steve's mom sent us some pictures yesterday of Steve when he was a baby and also of Steve's dad Gus when he was a child. Oddly enough, though we think Gabriel looks like my family most of the time, he looks JUST like Steve in these pics. Isaac looks exactly like Gus. It really is true, I somehow managed to gestate one baby resembling each family. Very intriguing, uterus.

Go Beans, Go!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteLoved their birth stories too, Mama. Very cool.
Love you!
